Gettin Busy!

What a Day!
We began with the usual commute and began by setting up our scaffoling out front. There was a problem with the additional sections we were to add to reach the top of the church facade (they were a different width) so we had a little delay while more sections of the second size were delivered. They arrived on the back of one of the uinque moto taxis. We used the down time to begin clening up the garden on the south side of the church and cutting back the foliage so that it could be painted.
Meanwhile our painting team was working on finishing the parish hall with much success and the kitchen crew was assisting in the preparation of lunch. We took our break about 12:30 just in time for the arrival of the afternoon school children. We ate upstairs in one of the classrooms and the spaghetti was great. A highlight of the meal was the juice, home made from Japanese Star fruit. It was served warm had a great flavor.
Our big task outside was finishing the last prep work and starting to paint. We made great strides there with some local help for the upper most portions of the church. Tomorrow we will tackle the bell tower, again using local help as it is just too high for safe work, at least by your over cautious youth leaders!
In addition we finished the first of three concrete ramps. These are really short sidewalks from the street to the parish doors but we are calling them "rampas".
We stayed late to find a suitable stopping point and took down all the scaffoling for the night. Nothing can be left outside lest it dissappear in the night.
We made great progress and the kids worked so hard. There was some fun time with the school kids too as they are becoming very familiar with us and even asked for our autographs!

This is a really great experience for the team and I remarked to them tonight that the parish will be very pleased when we get back and show off our labors. I also shared that while Beth, Theresa, Edward and I are very proud th the team, they should be proud of themselves for representing both individually and as members of Christ Church.
